The "A" string on my guitar snapped a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't have the money to replace it. For those who don't know me that well, going two whole weeks without playing my guitar is close to torture. Over the last couple of years, I've come to depend on my guitar for an escape from stress, an outlet for pent-up emotion... and of course, picking up chicks. (haha kidding) But it's there for me when I have nowhere else to turn for peace of mind.
So maybe you can understand how upset I was that my strings followed my example by going broke. (I know, I'm hilarious.)
Anyway, I opened a letter from my family today, and inside was the most beautiful twenty dollar bill I had seen in my life. I went straight for the music store after work and bought the highest-quality strings they had. And let me tell you, the sound they make is so crisp and clear, it's like a golden spark of life has returned to the dead wood of the guitar. Which totally sounds cheesy, but that's how I felt.
Happiness is a new set of strings.
--->Update: I just played for over four hours straight and my fingers hurt so good :)

An Explanation
Since this blag is brand new, I feel like it requires some explanation. For example, you may be wondering why I chose to call it a "blag." There are two reasons for this. First of all, I like to piss off grammar nazis. It's highly entertaining and they make it SO easy. Secondly, I wanted to pay homage to XKCD.com, which is one of the finest websites ever. I don't always get his jokes, but Randall Munroe has a refreshingly unusual take on almost every facet of life. Check it out.
Speaking of unusual: one of my close friends is leaving for Switzerland tomorrow! You may have heard of him; his name is Nathan Pratt, and in addition to being an artist of the highest caliber, he is a total goofball, in the sense that he occasionally does cartwheels and/or makes funny noises for absolutely no reason, jumps for joy at shiny objects on the ground, etc. He's going to study abroad for a month and we'll all miss him a lot.
Anyway, back to my explanation. The reason I'm starting this blag is that I want to keep a journal, but paper journals never work out for me. Something always goes wrong; I lose them, I scribble things out and it looks ugly and illegible, etc. Also, it's kind of cool having my own web page, even if nobody ever visits it, which I fully expect will be the case.
I guess we'll find out.
